JOB GOAL:
To maintain the School District of Lancaster premises, equipment and furnishings in a safe, secure and efficient manner to support a smooth and seamless educational system with a focus on plumbing system.
Essential and Marginal Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing equipment to include but not limited to water service lines, domestic hot water heaters, cold and hot water lines, backflow prev enters, pressure reducing valves, associated shut-off valves, toilets, sinks, sewer lines, water fountains, and sprinkler systems.
  • Complete installations of plumbing equipment, water lines, and drain lines.
  • Properly and safely operate drain clearing equipment and cameras to clear and repair blocks or backups.
  • Completes preventative maintenance as scheduled for plumbing related systems and equipment.
  • Maintains and operates equipment, vehicles, and work space in a clean and orderly way.
  • Picks up and delivers parts and supplies required to perform jobs to School District of Lancaster buildings as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections of building systems and equipment to ensure safe, secure, efficient and dependable operation.
  • Perform general maintenance work inside and outside such as ceiling, roof, electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry, tile, carpentry.
  • Maintain good working relationships with building engineers, inspectors, contractors and the Facilities Management Department on the operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of building systems and system components.
  • Obtain, organize, and enter pertinent work order information.
  • MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Estimate cost of repair projects in terms of labor, materials and overhead.
  • Coordinate routine inspections of backflow prev enters, grease traps and other required plumbing equipment.
  • Provides support to department leadership during new construction or renovation projects.
  • Perform duties of other Facilities Staff as requested by supervisor.
  • Perform removal of snow and ice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure the mission of the District is carried out.
  • Must be willing to engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in plumbing related employment, technical school degree or reasonable combination.
  • Ability to work as an individual and as a team member.
  • Appropriate certifications required by local, state and federal agencies as required by the School District of Lancaster.
  • Experience in general safety and fire prevention required.
  • Ability to implement an effective system of preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of customer service skills and professionalism.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Full Year, Essential Personnel

    EVALUATION:
    For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.
