The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is seeking someone highly motivated to join our team as a Corrections Maintenance Foreman. In this role, you will use your building maintenance, construction, general trades, or related experience to lead and teach inmate work crews as they complete maintenance and repair projects throughout the facility.
Responsibilities- Direct inmate work crews in completing construction, maintenance, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks across the facility.
- Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work assignments to ensure quality and completeness.
- Provide instruction on the safe use and basic care of tools, machinery, and vehicles.
- Perform or assist with semi‑skilled and skilled tasks such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, masonry, and other skilled trades.
- Maintain discipline during work assignments and document attendance to ensure accurate compensation.
- Issue, track, and account for all tools and materials; conduct searches as needed.
- Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. - Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- No option to telework for this position.
- Starting annual salary for new Commonwealth employees is $47,925.00 before taxes; a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
- Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
