The County Caseworker 1 role with Monroe County Children & Youth Services gives you the chance to support families working through difficult times. This position helps you guide children and youth toward greater stability by connecting them with vital community resources. Responsibilities- Case Assessment: Identify family needs and determine safety concerns for children.
- Service Coordination: Connect families with agencies and follow their progress.
- Home Visits: Meet with families to observe living conditions and provide support.
- Documentation: Record case details and prepare required reports accurately.
- Collaboration: Work with courts, schools, and service teams to support family goals.
Full‑time employment. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework is not available for this position.
Qualifications- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor’s degree with or supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
