Position: Driver License Examiner (West Oak Lane)

Description of Work

This position plays an important role in highway safety by conducting driving tests and reviewing various documents regarding identification. Through your work you will support secure licensing, fraud prevention, and positive customer service.

  • Conduct Exams:
    Administer vision, knowledge, and road tests to evaluate driver qualifications.
  • Evaluate Vehicles:
    Check vehicle conditions such as lights, wipers, and inspection status.
  • Verify Identity:
    Review applications and identity documents to detect irregularities and fraud.
  • Customer Assistance:
    Provide information on licensing, renewals, transfers, and card products.
  • Process Records:
    Enter test results, issue products, and follow service policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain Standards:
    Follow safety procedures, REAL , and customer service requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary.
  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:
    Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements
  • All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
  • All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.
  • All employees hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
