Overview

This opportunity as a PennDOT Driver License Examiner offers a meaningful change of pace for skilled drivers who are ready to step off the road and gain a dependable, steady schedule. Instead of long hauls and nights away from family, this role provides consistent hours and the chance to be home every evening. You will use your driving knowledge to help ensure that new and experienced drivers are prepared to operate safely on Pennsylvania roads.

Individuals fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply. Those hired will provide information and assistance to Spanish‑speaking customers.

• Conduct vision checks, knowledge exams, road tests, and vehicle safety reviews.
• Examine applications and identity documents to confirm authenticity and prevent fraud.
• Process applications, provide information, and issue driver license products.
• Access systems and verify documents to establish identity and eligibility.
• Follow customer service policies, REAL , and fee waiver guidelines.
• Maintain a clean workspace and adhere to safety procedures and training requirements.

• Full‑time employment, 80 hours bi‑weekly.
• Work hours:
  
  8:15 AM to 4:45 PM Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday; 9:15 AM to 5:45 PM Wednesday and Thursday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel as needed.
• No telework option.
• Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (or equivalent federal title).
• Or two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
• Active Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license (or equivalent) and at least 21 years of age.
• No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five years immediately preceding employment.
• For employees hired after February 28, 2022, an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license must be obtained within the first six months of employment or before the probationary period ends, and must be maintained.
• Active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements P and N (no restrictions E, L, N, O, or Z).
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Fingerprint and name‑based criminal history check required before employment.
