Job Summary

The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a professional track faculty position in Sociology for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Instructor beginning August 16, 2026.

The faculty member will normally teach twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses as needed. The basic requirement is to teach sociology courses. In addition to teaching foundational courses for freshmen and sophomore students, there may be opportunities to teach upper division course in the University's Palmetto College online bachelor's degree programs. Candidates must be willing to teach dual credit high school students at both Indian Land and main campus locations.

Instructors must have a commitment to university/community service.

Required

Education and Experience

Applicants must have a master's degree in sociology or other appropriate degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in sociology, including credentials necessary for departmental approval by the start date of employment.
