The Pastor of Education is a Christ-centered individual, strong and growing in his faith, a student of the Bible, “above reproach” (I Timothy 3 and Titus
1), and active in the church. This person should be currently demonstrating a “Christ-like” lifestyle that represents the church and the hands and feet of Christ in the broader community. The Pastor of Education will sense a divine call, a desire to lead people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and a New Testament belief in discipling Christians. This position is significant to the development of ministries s position aids the Lead Pastor in meeting educational needs;
to improve the standard of teaching; to lead in evangelistic outreach and train leaders within the congregation.
The Pastor of Education must respect the position and leadership of the Pastors on staff must develop a mature, productive, supportive relationship with the Pastors based on mutual respect. He must also oversee the teams under His care and ensure they feel secure, successful, and productive in their ministry roles. He accomplishes this task by being knowledgeable, supportive, and appreciative of their efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Help develop and implement vision and future direction of AFO along with the other Pastors.
- Oversee the Youth and Children’s Ministry. (KPI)
- Plan monthly/quarterly meetings with ministry teams to ensure a vibrant youth and kids ministry
- Assist with planning a calendar of events for the Youth and Kids area and ensure communication of events on all our platforms.
- Ensure teaching is age appropriate and relative to each ministry.
- Ensure the teams of each ministry understand the vision of discipleship for AFO Church and incorporate it into all teaching and planned events.
- Follow child protection policy and follow up with annual refresher training for yourself and volunteers.
- Implement, and execute the church wide vision of discipleship through our Adult Small Group ministries. (KPI)
- Responsible for providing Small Group questions for each leader to use based on sermon material.
- Work with Small Group Leadership teams to establish a pattern for meeting bi-weekly during the school year, as well as plan for meals/snacks and childcare.
- Ensure communication of Small Group meeting times and events on all our platforms.
- Build intentional relationships with Small Group Leaders and ensure each Small Group is building relationships within their individual groups as well.
- Ensure each Small Group Leader does at least one annual community outreach event with their team.
- Establish a plan to ensure oversight of scripturally sound teaching by Small Group Leaders.
- Help minister to families by building relationships and spending time with them outside the walls of AFO. (KPI)
- Preach during our worship service when requested by the Senior Pastor.
- Attend AFO sanctioned church wide events
- Ability to manage the various financial budgets under your responsibility
- Ability to demonstrate a Christ-centered heart from stage
- Ensure a regular quiet time is part of your daily experience and walk with Christ
- Other duties as assigned
