Description
Under limited supervision, performs duties related to supervision of the Building, Inspections, and Permit technical staff and the examination of building plans, Civil site plans, and related documents of industrial, commercial, and residential structures submitted to the County for compliance with all applicable codes. Work involves supervising and assisting in training the Inspectors and Permit technical staff; providing technical expertise in the review and approval of construction plans and complex job interpretations;
and coordinating plan review and permit processing activities with other departments and divisions. Employee may act for the Building Official in the latter’s absence. Reports to Building Official.

Typical Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in planning and development, business or public administration, engineering, architecture, building construction, or related field supplemented by five years’ experience in engineering, architecture, inspecting, working as a contractor or superintendent of construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Computer and wireless device skills are required and a sense of familiarity should be displayed.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must possess and maintain all Commercial plan reviewer certifications as required by law. Must possess & maintain a Certified Building Official certification.
