Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer and Deputy Director of Information Technology, the ERP Specialist provides hands‑on support for the implementation, operation, and ongoing maintenance of the County’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The ERP Specialist works collaboratively with the ERP Coordinator, IT staff, finance personnel, and other County departments to support system configuration, data accuracy, testing, documentation, and end‑user adoption.
This position is primarily execution‑focused rather than project management–oriented. Responsibilities include day‑to‑day implementation and system support activities such as data entry and validation, assisting with system configuration, supporting user testing, and helping departments transition from legacy processes to the ERP system. This role requires a strong understanding of financial processes, practical technical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively with both technical staff and non‑technical users.
ERPImplementation & Data Support
- Assist with ERP system implementation activities, with a primary focus on finance‑related modules (general ledger, accounts payable, budgeting, payroll, procurement).
- Perform data entry, data conversion readiness, validation, and reconciliation during system conversion and implementation phases.
- Support Finance, Human Resources, and Payroll with setting up charts of accounts, vendors, customers, employees, assets, and other core ERP records.
- Work directly with Finance and other County departments to gather required data and verify accuracy.
- Serve as a point of contact for departmental users during implementation, testing, and post‑production phases.
- Provide hands‑on assistance to end‑users navigating the ERP system for the first time.
- Help translate business and accounting requirements into system‑related tasks and configurations.
- Assist with system testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and end‑to‑end testing.
- Execute test scripts, document results, and report issues or discrepancies to leadership.
- Validate financial data outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and County policies.
- Assist in developing basic training materials, job aids, and step‑by‑step guides for ERP users.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small group assistance during training sessions and go‑live support.
- Help document procedures, workflows, and standard operating practices related to ERP use.
- Maintain and update online ERP resources for end users, including a dedicated intranet space containing SOPs, user manuals, FAQs, and other reference materials to support ongoing system use and adoption.
- Provide post‑implementation support, including basic troubleshooting and issue tracking.
- Assist with minor system updates, data corrections, and user access requests.
- Escalate complex technical or system issues to IT staff or ERP vendors as appropriate.
Office‑based role with occasional travel for conferences, training, or vendor meetings.
After‑hours support may be required during key implementation milestones or system go‑live periods.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, finance, ERP systems, financial software, or business systems support.
- Experience with ERP or financial systems such as Workday.
- Experience supporting finance, payroll, budget, or procurement functions.
- Basic understanding of databases, system interfaces, or data imports/exports.
- Working knowledge of accounting and financial processes.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with financial and transactional data.
- Basic technical aptitude and ability to learn enterprise software systems.
