Correctional Officer
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties which ensure the discipline, safety & security of inmates sentenced to the confinement of the County Detention Center; receives & processes prisoners coming into the facility by completing appropriate forms & paperwork, recording identifying information, searches prisoners, logs & stores personal items, fingerprints & photographs prisoners; as well as other related duties.
Typical Qualifications- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy within first year of employment & pass the physical requirements set forth by the SCCJA.
- Must pass an extensive background check & have a valid driver’s license.
