Safety and Security Officer is responsible for routine patrols in and around divisional buildings, focusing on locations requiring frequent checks. Patrol buildings, check for unsafe conditions, perform fire checks, identify prowlers, vandalism, and other unusual occurrences. Make rounds of assigned areas at least three times during shifts, documenting issues in written reports and logs. Promptly respond to emergencies and engage with care team members, patients, and visitors.
Monitor alarm activations and video camera systems for current security and safety issues, investigate past incidents, and submit complete reports and recommendations to supervision. Demonstrate courteous behavior, verbal de-escalation skills, and if necessary, physical management to control situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to courteously interact with the general public and patients with behavioral health concerns or altered mental status.
• Knowledge of security methods in buildings and grounds, including de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to engage in physical confrontations with suspected offenders as needed.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Certification/LicensureCurrent and valid driver’s license, minimal computer literacy, ability to work overtime as required, and a clean background check including a criminal background check.
