Role summary:
The (USA) Manager, Automation Engineering leads the design, integration, and continuous improvement of automation systems within supply chain operations. This role leverages data analysis and advanced engineering principles to optimize processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support project execution. The manager collaborates cross-functionally to implement technology solutions, drive process improvements, and manage automation projects from planning through testing. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential to influence stakeholders and develop team capabilities while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
About the team:
The Walmart Supply Chain Automation Engineering team develops and scales technology to enhance safety, reliability, and productivity across the distribution network. The Grocery Automation Engineering group supports automated systems for fresh and grocery products, from facility design to ongoing operations. The Perishable Automation Performance & Ramp team ensures sites meet business goals through automation, system optimization, and performance improvements. The Live Site Modernization & Solutions team leads complex upgrades in automated grocery centers, collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver scalable solutions, manage projects end-to-end, and modernize operations while maintaining continuous network performance.
What you'll do:

• Analyzeautomationperformanceandtranslatedataintoactionableimprovementopportunities.
• Designandassessprocessflowstostrengthenautomationandsupplychainintegration.
• Developscalable,programmaticapproachestoautomationimprovementsacrosslivesites.
• Leadcross-functionalprojectexecution,includingcoordinatingon-site installations,vendors,site readiness,commissioning,andoperationalhandoff.
• Buildbusinesscasesbyevaluatingcosts,benefits,engineering requirements,andimplementationrisks.
• Managemultipleprojectsthroughschedules,budgets,testing,resource coordination,status reporting,andstakeholdercommunication.

• Provenexperienceleadinglarge-scale automation,engineering,orcapitalprojectsincomplex,liveoperationalenvironments.
• Demonstratedabilitytomanageprojectsendtoend,including scope,schedule,budget,risks,resources,installation,commissioning,andhandoff.
• Strongtrackrecordpartneringwith Operations,Maintenance,Engineering,andothercross-functional stakeholders.
• Experiencemanagingvendorsandcontractors,includingtechnicalalignment,performance,issue resolution,anddeliveryaccountability.
• Abilitytotranslateoperationalneedsandperformancedataintopractical,scalableautomationimprovements.
• Strongcommunicationandinfluenceskillstoalignstakeholders,escalaterisks,anddrivedecisionsacrossmultipleconcurrentinitiatives.
