Job Summary

The Project Lead
- Data Center Services will support both the Physical and Virtual Infrastructure of the organization and its facilities. The Project Lead
- Data Center Services will drive data center best practices and relevant industry standards into working processes and procedures as/where applicable. The Project Lead - DCS will act as the on‑site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support and coordinate all scheduled data center MACs according to the DCIT calendar event scheduling.
  • Implement cable work order (CWO) MACs, testing and certification, and assist with crafting LV project BOM and scope documents.
  • Perform asset auditing and manage daily error logs.
  • Provide equipment installation MACs, including device labeling, power connectivity and LV cable connectivity, ensuring proper cable dressing.
  • Assist with smart‑hand operations as required.
  • Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the GPN data center and report violations to DCIT immediately.
  • Document and record details for asset installation layout, cable plant patch matrix, and cable labeling standards.
  • Maintain the secure hard drive disk (HDD) bin and log, ensuring compliance with retention practices and notifying DCIT as required.
  • Manage ticketing and service calls.
  • Use basic computer productivity tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), testing tools/apps, and DCIM related tools.
  • Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping, and RMA processing as needed.
  • Provide general cleaning on raised floor, cabinet/rack exterior surfaces, work benches, and other areas on a weekly basis.
  • Troubleshoot layer‑1 suspected cable plant issues and address networking, storage, and general power distribution problems.
  • Develop, document, and monitor performance measures and processes for audit and operational compliance related to datacenter best practices and industry standards.
  • Ensure ISO 27001 / 9001 and TIA/EIA-942 certifications.
  • Support standard and emergency operating procedures for the data center.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules align with best industry standards and are reviewed annually.
  • Provide status reporting on data center service availability, performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Report daily error logs and conduct physical DC inspections for general health, power, cooling, hazards, etc.
  • Coordinate equipment installation and delivery schedules following project plans.
  • Participate and provide key input for all data center expansion, migration, and decommissioning plans.
  • Use the following tools:
    Basic Hand Tools
    : screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves;
    Trade Tools
    : punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester, and 5‑gang punch tool.

Compensation:
Min USD $31.00/Hr. – Max USD $35.00/Hr.

Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years working in data centers (datacom/telecom, operations, administration, or related technical field).
  • General knowledge of telecom/IP equipment and software configurations.
  • Basic understanding of AC/DC power principles.
  • Strong aptitude for independent work and high productivity.
  • Proven problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication skills (written, oral, and presentation).
  • Ability to work at heights, off ladders, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb and move up to 75 lb.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills and regular attendance.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency (minimum).
  • Minimum six (6) months supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Must be able to terminate fiber.
  • Must possess and effectively use the tools listed above.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
