The Operational Account Manager, Freight Operations is an integral part of the Road US team’s freight brokerage operations and assists with the establishment and development of relationships with customers by providing exceptional customer service. The role develops the branch’s house accounts, seeks new growth opportunities with current and new clients, and oversees communication with clients regarding all aspects of the account.
Duties & Responsibilities- Develop overall customer relationships via phone, email, and in person.
- Negotiate with transportation carriers and providers to obtain and set rates and determine available services.
- Research and identify growth opportunities within the branch’s house accounts.
- Investigate, act on, and establish new customer leads and opportunities.
- Examine customer requests to provide the best service options and pricing.
- Proactively handle customer shipment requests.
- Utilize our TMS system and provide data input to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling.
- Provide direction and set pricing guidelines for the Carrier Sales team.
- Monitor shipment tracking from pickup through delivery and communicate accurate information to the customer and/or Key Account Manager.
- Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded through close communication with Carrier Sales team.
- Track and trace shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is provided to customers.
- Prepare spend reports as needed and hold regular check‑ins via Q or M with the customer.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and project work as assigned by manager.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; college degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field required, 5+ years preferred.
- Experience with transportation management systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
- Solid analytical experience in Excel.
- Driven, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment while also delivering independent results.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem‑solving skills, verbal, written and in person.
- Strong prioritization skills and a sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in using a Windows‑based computer.

- Strong mathematical skills for pricing, negotiating and project development.
The position primarily involves sedentary work in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, speaking on the phone, and participating in virtual meetings. Frequent use of hands and fingers is necessary to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and bending may be required to retrieve files or collaborate with team members.
The employee may occasionally lift items weighing up to approximately 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to focus on computer screens for extended periods.
