Key Responsibilities- Supervise, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower.
- Hire and train staff, plan and assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues and resolve problems.
- Supervise the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives, under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager.
- Meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality; comply with corporate and site-specific policies.
As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
- Effectively inform senior management and client representatives of critical issues affecting operations.
- Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures. Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals; comply with terms of the client site operating agreement.
- Implement and report on ongoing cost savings measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations.
- Meet client-specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
- Manage operations to achieve objectives; apply communication and motivational techniques; supervise, counsel, and discipline where needed; provide HR support; assist in hiring, training, and development programs; participate in performance evaluation processes.
- Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff.
- Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assign duties to appropriate staff.
- Review pending jobs or trends, plan for warehouse space reorganization, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing as needed.
- Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members; assess progress and add duties as appropriate.
- Monitor quantity and quality of work; provide guidance as necessary.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members; keep management informed of progress and issues.
- Participate in regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess status and discuss improvements; inform staff of new developments.
- Assist in physical operations as needed.
- Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time; maintain motivation to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Provide growth and development opportunities for team members; conduct annual performance reviews; support adherence to SOPs.
- Provide training and enforcement of SOPs (corporate and client).
Education & Experience
- Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years experience in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 1 year experience in a supervisory role
- Preferred:
Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
