Job Title: Project Director, GCM (Contract Logistics)

Position Summary: The Project Director, GCM is responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of projects related to new business implementation and other existing business initiatives within the Contract Logistics Global Customer Management organization, focused on a designated GCM client globally. The role works closely with DSV GCM leadership and the client to ensure each project is on schedule, within scope, and on budget, and contributes to strategic planning of future projects.

Responsibilities
  • Planning Leadership
    • Define, with GCM leadership, a strategic plan of projects around the globe paired with a resource plan for all functions required.
    • Build and maintain a playbook of how a project for the designated client is delivered, including adherence to CL Project Approach.
    • Develop comprehensive project planning with clear tasks, due dates and named owners. Train and mentor local Project Managers in the design and use of the plan; monitor adherence.
  • Risk Mitigation Leadership
    • Continuously anticipate risks and proactively build mitigation plans with project managers and relevant functions. Follow through on results.
  • Core Competencies
    • Clear understanding of all phases of the project implementation schedule, including core deliverables for each functional area and timing.
    • Align client and business input to ensure the Project Scope is clearly captured.
    • Facilitate DSV Quality Planning sessions.
    • Create a detailed task list (Project Schedule) with milestones and critical path tasks to ensure no deliverables or dependencies are overlooked.
    • Communicate the Project Scope and Schedule to all project resources and stakeholders.
    • Hold team members, contractors, and others accountable to deliverables pursuant to the task list and dates.
    • Manage project budget, scope, and timeline through proactive communication, including change control with appropriate approval.
    • Lead regular status meetings with the project team to capture updates, next steps, and risks/mitigation.
    • Escalate issues/risks appropriately to Manager and Project Sponsor.
    • Lead Steering Committee updates covering executive level status, budget, and risks.
    • Plan and manage transition from project execution to stable operations.
    • Serve as SME point of contact and guidance for other PMs on process and tools for GCM clients.
    • Assist with drafting Project Timeline files tailored for RFP responses.
  • Project Team Leadership
    • Ensure each owner understands what they must deliver.
    • Drive team ownership and high-energy culture. The team owns the outcome, not just specific tasks.
  • Project Ownership
    • Verify work in progress is done correctly and at a high-quality level.
    • Maintain proactive regular follow up on all open items and check progress throughout.
    • Demonstrate a "whatever it takes" attitude, stepping in and doing work when necessary to meet deadlines.
    • Escalate and pull in support before a crisis occurs.
    • Directly manage projects as required.
  • Project Oversight
    • Excellent communication: clear, concise, factual, need-to-know information.
    • Pull the team together at frequent intervals during critical times of the project.
    • Define success and drive functional work streams to meet it.
    • Keep the team aligned and focused on the proper sequence of priorities and timing for completion.
    • Use red, yellow, green status consistently.
Qualifications
  • Four‑year degree (Management, Engineering, Operations preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience with leadership of project management staff.
  • Minimum of 10 years of logistics/warehousing industry experience.
Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • AutoCAD (plus).
  • Warehouse Management System(s).
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Spanish (a plus).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
