Summary

The Supervisor, Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of branch operations to ensure efficient and effective processes, productivity, and customer service. This role provides leadership and support to the operations team, coordinates workflow and operational priorities, and assists with resolving escalated operational issues.

The Supervisor, Operations works closely with branch management, Business Development, and other internal teams to support customer accounts, operational performance, and opportunities for continued growth. This role also oversees customer onboarding and account processes, monitors key performance indicators, and ensures operations are performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and customer requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to assigned operational team members, including workload distribution, coaching, performance management, timekeeping, and time‑off approvals.
  • Coordinate daily operational activities and priorities to ensure customer and branch requirements are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely.
  • Monitor team performance, provide ongoing feedback and development, conduct performance reviews, and participate in staffing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding activities.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for customer, shipment, system, and operational issues, providing guidance and coordinating resolution as appropriate.
  • Maintain working knowledge of customer freight requirements and oversee customer onboarding, account set‑up, documentation, and ongoing operational processes.
  • Support customer pricing activities, including volume spot quotes and shipment booking, in accordance with established processes and approval requirements.
  • Monitor operational reports, account activity, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, exceptions, and opportunities to improve productivity and service.
  • Support carrier development activities and utilize appropriate company tools to research freight classifications and other shipment requirements.
  • Partner with Sales and branch leadership to identify opportunities for account growth, service enhancements, and stronger customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and other internal teams to resolve operational, billing, and carrier settlement discrepancies and improve overall efficiencies.
  • Serve as a backup to the Branch Manager and support day-to-day branch responsibilities in their absence, as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational requirements while fostering a positive, collaborative, and high‑performing work environment.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
