Responsibilities
- Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers and railcars. This work is physical and requires attention to detail.
- Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
- Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load.
- Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations.
- Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages.
- Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with laboratory personnel.
- Maintain accurate receiving and shipping logs; record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
- Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions.
- Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse, and maintain daily forklift checklist.
- Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse.
- Lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets over varying distances.
- Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses.
- Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment.
- Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations, ensuring proper labeling, storing, stacking, and palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements.
- Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
- Operate electronic scale and process devices.
- Store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
- Maintain responsibility for inventory, examine stored product, report deterioration and damage, rearrange stored materials, and assist in counting of physical inventory.
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers.
- When spills occur, report immediately and conduct cleanup.
- Protect property from theft or damage.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required.
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
- Candidates with prior experience working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
- Possess or be able to pass the exam to obtain Forklift Operator certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
- Read, comprehend, and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English, and write simple correspondence.
- Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
- Learn and operate technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, and operational technology equipment to carry out normal business operations.
- Meet or exceed production requirements based on information or equipment used in the course of work performance.
- Wear safety equipment as prescribed by the company.
- Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
Job Requirements
- Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings.
- Be available to work any days of the week on any assigned 8-12 hour shift.
- Be willing to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Maintain a good safety and attendance record.
- Work cooperatively with other departments and personnel.
- Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
- Pass an E‑verify check.
- Be capable of obtaining a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag (applicable only to MTSA sites).
- Have no supervisory responsibilities.
- Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.
- Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material.
