The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for advanced maintenance and repair to the Distribution Center.

- Perform troubleshooting on equipment/machinery as issues arise in the Distribution Center and make necessary repairs based on conclusions.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical material handling equipment, including transportation conveyors, sortation systems, and forklifts.
- Perform emergency mechanical repairs to failed material handling systems.
- Install and repair all types of electrical and electronic equipment such as wiring devices, motors, transformers, starters, circuit breakers, relays, circuit boards, VFDs, PLC modules, etc.
- Troubleshoot and light program PLC controls and automation controls (Allan Bradley).
- Perform maintenance projects on conveyor systems, including installation, removal, and process improvement changes.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Identify and locate required repair parts for failed systems.
- Maintain accurate record keeping such as work orders, time sheets, and parts requests.
- Utilize machine shop skills (use of micrometers, indicators, setting up work/tooling, running machine tools, etc.).
- Metal fabrication and building skills (layout, cutting, welding, finishing, etc.).
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
- Additional education including vocational training preferred (but not required).
- Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the role, including pallet jacks, various styles of forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to work independently and self‑motivated to seek work.
- Ability and willingness to follow material handling equipment safe operating procedures.
- Ability to complete assignments within the time allotted.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule until work is done.
- Ability to work regularly at a maximum height of four flights of stairs.
- Ability to operate a cherry picker and/or scissor lift, and work at a maximum height of 36 feet while tethered to a safety harness.
- Demonstrates limited leadership and project management skills and exercises good discretionary judgment in problem identification and resolution.
- 8+ years of progressive mechanical/electrical experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment and ability to work independently and safely with limited supervision.
- Strong electrical skills, working with 120 VAC–480 V and 24 VDC required.
- Strong mechanical and fabricating skills required.
- Working knowledge and troubleshooting of electrical motor control systems.
- Working knowledge and basic programming of PLC controls systems and VFD drives.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or schematics required.
- Experience and proficiency utilizing machines/equipment such as hand tools, measuring tools, drills, grinders, saws, multimeter, tachometer, welder, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to bend and twist frequently.
- Must have ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
