Maintenance Technician - NIGHTS

At Niagara, we’re looking for Team Members who want to help deliver high quality, affordable bottled water to our customers. The Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through troubleshooting and repair of production and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair production equipment including injection and blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
  • Repair facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis units, and other water filtration systems.
  • Work directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shift.
  • Propose solutions to complex and recurring production equipment problems to senior mechanics and management.
  • Use schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Repair, modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with company processes.
  • Maintain industrial control systems.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete repairs safely and promptly, and may fill in for a production operator as needed.
  • Create and report repairs throughout shift, completing required work order paperwork and documenting parts and material usage.
  • Follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting and machine operation, and use personal protective equipment when required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
  • 4 years of experience in this position.
  • 4 years of experience managing people or projects (or equivalent combination of work experience and education).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Skilled with shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools.
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment – calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges.
  • Willingness to act as a technical leader and trainer within a specific plant or machine center.
  • Own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar field.
  • 6 years of experience in this position.
  • 6 years of experience managing people or projects (or equivalent combination of work experience and education).
  • Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
  • Knowledge of VFD, servo drives, servo motor, rotary equipment (rotary press or filler).
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
  • Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment, HVAC chillers, and air compressors.
  • Proficiency with 480

    VAC & 24

    VDC electrical systems and schematic troubleshooting.
  • Fabrication skills – cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
  • Experience repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (ASi‑Bus, CAN‑Bus, Profi‑Bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.
Education
  • High school diploma required; associate’s degree in manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, or related field preferred.

  • No specific certifications required.
