Job SummaryThe Business Development Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth for DSV Road by acquiring new customers, reactivating dormant accounts, and developing relationships with small‑ and medium‑sized customers. The role promotes DSV’s road transportation, freight brokerage, and logistics solutions, identifies new business opportunities, builds a pipeline of prospects, and converts opportunities into revenue‑generating accounts through consultative selling and relationship management. The manager collaborates closely with Pricing, Operations, and Sales Support to craft solutions that align with customer needs and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the small‑ and medium‑sized customer segment and assigned territories.
- Acquire new customers through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry engagement, and relationship‑building activities.
- Reactivate inactive or dormant customer accounts and develop strategies to increase engagement and revenue.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of accounts to support revenue growth, customer retention, and long‑term business development objectives.
- Maintain a pipeline of prospective customers and opportunities and convert qualified opportunities into active accounts.
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing and prospective accounts.
- Meet or exceed assigned revenue, customer acquisition, and growth objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process.
- Conduct meetings to understand transportation needs, business challenges, and service requirements.
- Support customer retention and identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and increase service utilization.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns through collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Assess customer transportation requirements and collaborate with internal operations teams to develop effective solutions.
- Present service offerings and participate in discussions on pricing proposals and business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Pricing, Operations, and Sales Support to develop competitive, customer‑focused solutions.
- Prepare and present proposals, recommendations, and sales presentations.
- Support successful onboarding and implementation activities.
- Monitor market activity, customer trends, and competitive information to identify opportunities.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, pipeline, and forecast information in the CRM system.
- Track sales performance and opportunity progression.
- Provide updates, forecasts, and reports regarding business development activities.
- Prioritize opportunities and sales activities to maximize effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred. - 1–3 years of sales, business development, or commercial experience preferred.
- Experience building customer relationships and supporting revenue growth.
- Experience in a KPI‑driven, goal‑oriented, or customer‑focused environment.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and pipeline management tools.
- Industry experience in transportation and logistics, domestic freight brokerage, or related fields is preferred.
