Summary

The regional Truck Driver safety and efficiently completed regional deliveries with care, professionalism, and precision.

The CDL A Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight.

This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.

* Backs trailers to customer dock.

* Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.

* Communicates with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.

* Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers.

* Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing).

* Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle.

* Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.

* Swings and secures trailer doors.

* Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

* Valid CDL A License required

* Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred)

* Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41)

* No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five (5) yrs.

* No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) yrs.

* Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred

* Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling

* Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools

* Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments

* Experience handling high-value or sensitive freight preferred

* Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

* TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required)

* Hazmat endorsement requires

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a commercial vehicle and perform physical freight handling activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle

* Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices

* Frequently enter and exit the cab (4-6 feet) multiple times per shift

* Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1-125 pounds (team lift or equipment-assisted when required)

* Lift up to 50 pounds independently

* Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level

* Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections

* Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer

* Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment

* Walk and stand for portions of the shift on surfaces such as concrete, metal, or dock plates, which may be uneven, wet, or slippery

* Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable)
