Summary

The regional Truck Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight. This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

Responsibilities
  • Drive semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off‑duties on runs of up to one week or more.
  • Back strap trailers to customer dock.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
  • Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers.
  • Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
  • Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
  • Secure trailer doors; swing and secure trailer doors.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid CDL A License required.
  • Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
  • Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41).
  • No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five (5) years.
  • No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) years.
  • Experience in local P&D operations, multi‑stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling.
  • Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer‑facing environments.
  • Experience handling high‑value or sensitive freight preferred.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required).
  • Hazmat endorsement required.

Physical Demands
  • Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices.
  • Frequently enter and exit the cab (4‑6 feet) multiple times per shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1‑125 pounds (team lift or equipment‑assisted when required).
  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level.
  • Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
  • Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment.
  • Walk and stand for portions of the shift on surfaces such as concrete, metal, or dock plates, which may be uneven, wet, or slippery.
  • Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable).
Work Environment

The role requires regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind during loading and unloading activities.
