Summary

The regional Truck Driver safety and efficiently completed regional deliveries with care, professionalism, and precision.

The CDL A Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe,timely, and accurate transportation of freight.

This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off duty on runs of up to one week or more.
  • Back up trailers to customer dock.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
  • Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers.
  • Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing).
  • Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
  • Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
  • Swings and secure trailer doors.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid CDL A License required.
  • Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
  • Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCS 391.41).
  • No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five (5) years.
  • No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) years.
  • Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling.
  • Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments.
  • Experience handling high‑value or sensitive freight preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required).
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a commercial vehicle and perform physical freight handling activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices.
  • Frequently enter and exit the cab (4–6 feet) multiple times per shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1–125 pounds (team lift or equipment-assisted when required).
  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level.
  • Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
  • Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment.
  • Walk and stand for portions of the shift on surfaces such as concrete, metal, or dock plates, which may be uneven, wet, or slippery.
  • Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable).
