The regional Truck Driver safety and efficiently completed regional deliveries with care, professionalism, and precision. The CDL A Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight. This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.
- Backs trailers to customer dock.
- Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
- Communicates with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
- Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers.
- Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing).
- Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle.
- Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Swings and secures trailer doors.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Valid CDL A License required.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
- Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41).
- No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five (5) yrs.
- No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) yrs.
- Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling.
- Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments.
- Experience handling high-value or sensitive freight preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required).
- Hazmat endorsement requires.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a commercial vehicle and perform physical freight handling activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices.
- Frequently enter and exit the cab (4–6 feet) multiple times per shift.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1–125 pounds (team lift or equipment-assisted when required).
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
- Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level.
- Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
- Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment.
- Walk and stand for portions of the shift on surfaces such as concrete, metal, or dock plates, which may be uneven, wet, or slippery.
- Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable).
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this role, the employee works in a combination of environments including inside a truck cab and outdoors at customer locations, terminals, and on public roadways.
- The position requires regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind during loading and unloading activities.
- The employee may also be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, noise, and vibration associated with operating commercial vehicles.
- Work is frequently performed in busy warehouse yards, loading docks, and urban delivery environments, which may include tight spaces, traffic congestion, and time-sensitive delivery schedules.
