Position Overview

Responsible for the safe transportation of industrial and commercial equipment to and from various customer job locations and branch stores. The role involves local or long‑distance hauling of equipment and supplies as well as loading, unloading, and securing equipment.

Location

TFR - Lancaster, 1630 S I 35 E, Lancaster, Texas, 75146. Workplace:
Onsite.

Essential Functions
  • Delivery and pickup of equipment for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Secure construction equipment and other equipment by chaining, strapping, and blocking in strict accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑vehicle inspections; inspect truck for defects and safe operation before, during, and after delivery trips.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Complete DOT‑required driver’s daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment at job sites and make minor repairs.
  • Demonstrate proper and safe equipment usage to customers at the point of delivery.
  • Obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pick‑up, and exchange forms.
  • Assist other departments whenever required in an efficient manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving procedures.
  • Knowledge of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations / DOT guidelines.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Quality‑control analysis skills – conducting tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operation and control skills – controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Equipment selection skills – determining the tools and equipment needed for a job.
  • Ability to rapidly adjust controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems.
  • Ability to maintain a clean driver’s record with diligent attention to safety.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
  • Fine motor skills – coordinated finger movements to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects.
  • Reading comprehension of written information.
  • Listening comprehension of spoken information.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Three years’ driving experience preferred, with verifiable over‑the‑road experience operating combination commercial vehicles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with Class A CDL certification and DOT Physical Examination (Medical card).
  • Knowledge of driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment, and operating safely in high‑traffic or congested city zones and in small areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Travel: Up to 100% required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower‑back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Can ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress using both hands and feet and climb ladders.
  • Can safely maneuver and work underneath equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

Work Environment:

  • Requires working in a closed vehicle or equipment.
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions, including heavy rain, wind, or extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment.
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and/or high places.
