ResponsibilitiesThe DC Material Handler II has proven general knowledge of distribution center (DC) procedures, equipment, and systems through technical and on‑the‑job training and experience. The position’s primary purpose is receiving, filling, and/or shipping products accurately and efficiently.
- Operates basic power equipment (i.e., electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit‑down forklift) in a safe and efficient manner to pick and process orders and to locate, put away, stack, and move checked‑in products to correct storage locations on a daily basis, including stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product where needed; monitoring stock on shelves or bins;
replenishing stock from reserves; maintaining control of products in reserve stock area or will call area. - Receives product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
- Ensures shipments received are in good condition and accurate by inspecting freight for damage, signing freight bills, verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received, checking all shipments against packing lists, and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
- Ensures all required products have verified bar‑code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Fills orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them in a manner that minimizes shipping damage, entering items into a scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Documents the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
- Prepares orders by preparing trucks for shipments, palletizing and wrapping orders, loading pallets and pieces into trucks, placing the packing list in the last skid, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Maintains current accuracy and efficiency standards and follows all standard operating procedures.
- Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
- Maintains a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following safety rules, and maintaining a clean work area; promptly reports any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
- Always wears protective equipment according to company policies and procedures; accesses Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and when appropriate.
- Maintains required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications as needed.
- Maintains professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers; treats all customers and coworkers with a helpful and courteous attitude.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience- Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
- Preferred:
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
- Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
