A position dedicated to supporting students with disabilities in achieving independence and academic success alongside their peers.

Special Education Teaching Assistant

• 48 hours of college credit or an AA degree
• Hold or be eligible to obtain certification as a substitute teacher in accordance with the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Substitute Teacher Certification
• Demonstrate interest and have experience working with children with disabilities
• Prefer documented training with regard to working with children with disabilities

Building Principal/Special Education Director

• Provide opportunities for disabled students to function independently and with their regular classroom peers to the maximum extent possible.
• Assist the regular or special education teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities to allow all children to learn effectively.

• Collaborate with the regular or special education classroom teachers to plan, prepare and implement each student's IEP.
• Provide structuring comments, which clarify tasks and help the lesson proceed smoothly.
• Support the teachers' efforts to ensure student time on task.
• Aid the teacher in providing evaluative feedback.
• Motivate the students.
• Communicate effectively with students.
• Provide opportunities for individual differences of students.
• Set high standards for student behavior.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
• Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students.
• Promote self-discipline and responsibility.
• Carry out general employee responsibilities effectively.
• Support school regulations and policies.
• Assume responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to school.
• Complete other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

At-will.

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on classified staff evaluation.
