A position dedicated to supporting students with disabilities in achieving independence and academic success alongside their peers.
TitleSpecial Education Teaching Assistant
Qualifications- 48 hours of college credit or an AA degree
- Hold or be eligible to obtain certification as a substitute teacher in accordance with the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Substitute Teacher Certification
- Demonstrate interest and have experience working with children with disabilities
- Prefer documented training with regard to working with children with disabilities
Building Principal/Special Education Director
Job Goals- Provide opportunities for disabled students to function independently and with their regular classroom peers to the maximum extent possible.
- Assist the regular or special education teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities to allow all children to learn effectively.
- Collaborate with the regular or special education classroom teachers to plan, prepare and implement each student's IEP.
- Provide structuring comments, which clarify tasks and help the lesson proceed smoothly.
- Support the teachers' efforts to ensure student time on task.
- Aid the teacher in providing evaluative feedback.
- Motivate the students.
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Provide opportunities for individual differences of students.
- Set high standards for student behavior.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
- Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students.
- Promote self-discipline and responsibility.
- Carry out general employee responsibilities effectively.
- Support school regulations and policies.
- Assume responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to school.
- Complete other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on classified staff evaluation.
