Must-Have:
Candidates may be responsible for taking care of pediatric/adolescent patients on occasion. Must be able to float between campuses depending on facility census.

Description:

Medical-Surgical Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.

Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Nurses prepare and administer prescribed medications and record relevant data.

They report adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy.

Educating patients on surgical procedures is a key responsibility.

They record patients' medical information and vital signs.

Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients is required.

Nurses interpret and record electronic displays.

Initiating corrective action whenever a patient displays adverse symptoms is essential.

Providing bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.

Nurses initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians.

They teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury.

Responsibilities also include changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.

Nurses prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.

Responding to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol is necessary.

Participating in discharge planning is part of the role.

Utilizing time management skills effectively is crucial.

Nurses record all care information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.

Performing other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting, is expected.
