Job Summary

The Registered Nurse
- House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and long-term planning of patient care areas, providing leadership to nursing staff, and ensuring high-quality patient care. This role involves collaboration with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and offering emotional and psychological support to patients and their families. The House Supervisor ensures the facility meets operational and financial standards, adheres to nursing policies and procedures, and continuously strives for improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management:
  • Direct and develop nursing staff by selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Communicate job expectations and monitor job performance.
  • Contribute to strategic plans and implement productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Resolve problems and identify system improvements within the nursing department.
  • Manage human resources by adhering to policies and making recommendations for compensation.
  • Operational and Financial Oversight:
  • Meet nursing operational standards by contributing to strategic plans, implementing operational objectives, and ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
  • Manage financial performance by providing budget information, monitoring expenditures, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain nursing supplies inventory by anticipating needs, approving requisitions, and managing costs.
  • Quality and Compliance:
  • Assure quality of care by interpreting hospital and nursing division philosophies and enforcing adherence to state board and nursing regulations.
  • Measure health outcomes and make necessary adjustments to improve care quality.
  • Develop and update nursing policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
  • Oversee compliance with infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Patient Care and Service:
  • Establish rapport with patients and families to identify service requirements and provide comprehensive support.
  • Ensure patient care goals are established and reinforced through education and counseling.
  • Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and staff.
  • Use a multidisciplinary team approach to resolve patient needs and enhance care delivery.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Promote cooperation among healthcare teams through communication and problem-solving.
  • Maintain documentation and audit patient records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Stay updated on medical and administrative equipment by ensuring functionality, completing maintenance, and evaluating new tools.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay informed on the latest nursing practices through continuing education and professional workshops.
  • Participate in professional societies and network with other healthcare professionals to enhance expertise.
Qualifications Certifications
  • ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association (must be attached to the resume).
  • RQI certifications will not be accepted.
Experience
  • ICU Supervisory experience in a hospital setting is required.
Licensing
  • Must have a State RN license or a multi-state license (must be attached to the resume).
Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of nursing practices, policies, and standards.
  • Ability to manage operational and financial aspects of nursing services.
  • Proficient in patient care, safety protocols, and team collaboration.
