Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse
The Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients, utilizing scientific nursing principles. The RN's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Preparing and administering prescribed medications (orally, subcutaneously, through IV) and recording the necessary documentation.
- Reporting adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with established policies.
- Educating patients on surgical procedures and post-treatment care.
- Recording medical information and vital signs accurately and timely.
- Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients and interpreting data displays.
- Initiating corrective action for any adverse symptoms encountered by patients.
- Providing bedside care for a diverse range of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgical individuals.
- Developing and initiating patient education plans as prescribed by physicians.
- Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs as needed.
- Preparing equipment and aiding physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
- Responding to life-saving situations per established nursing standards and protocols.
- Participating in discharge planning and utilizing effective time management skills.
- Recording care information concisely and accurately in the appropriate formats and systems.
This position requires a night shift from 19:00 to 07:00.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:
- Current Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a medical/surgical setting is preferred.
