Instructional Assistant/Lab Facilitator

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Recognized Equivalent
  • One of the following:
    • Two years' post-secondary education (48 semester hours)
    • Associate's Degree on official transcript from accredited institution of higher education
    • Work Keys Assessment: minimum score of Level 3 on Applied Math, Work Place Documents, and Business Writing

Reports To:

Principal

Job Goal:

To facilitate and support student learning in the context of distance/online education. To assist students in achieving and maintaining adequate progress in computer-based coursework.

Performance Responsibilities and

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes the responsibility of the computer lab, including monitoring for correct and appropriate use of equipment.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Maintains a structured and orderly learning environment and supports students' compliance with the school and district codes of conduct.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Monitors student academic progress.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Participates in in-service training programs/professional development as needed.
  • Assumes other such duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
  • Assists students with coursework.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians, school personnel, state-level ACCESS personnel, and/or other curriculum providers.
  • Assists students with minor technology issues.
  • Ensures that students remain on task and on pace.
  • Ensure the integrity of students' work.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, or other activities as assigned.
  • Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up-to-date.
  • Alerts the principal or other appropriate personnel to any problem or special information about an individual student.

Terms of Employment:
Nine (9) months unless otherwise determined by the Board. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel and as directed by the Alabama State Department of Education personnel evaluation requirements.
