This role involves working with employees across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, ensuring compliance with employment standards and collective bargaining agreements.
Responsibilities
Payroll Support
Assist with bi‑weekly payroll processing for unionized hourly employees using ADP Workforce Now (training provided), under the guidance of the Payroll and Benefits Manager.
Review employee timecards for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with employment standards and collective bargaining agreements.
Enter payroll‑related data into the system and double‑check for errors.
Help verify calculations for overtime, vacation, and statutory holiday pay.
Assist with preparing Records of Employment (ROEs) under the guidance of the Payroll and Benefits Manager.
Respond to basic payroll questions from employees and escalate complex issues to the Payroll and Benefits Manager.
Benefits Support
Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrolments, changes, and terminations.
Provide employees with general information about benefits coverage and direct them to the right resources.
Assist with reconciling monthly benefits premiums under the guidance of the Payroll and Benefits Manager.
Compliance and Reporting
Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate employee records.
Support the Payroll and Benefits Manager with year‑end reporting tasks, such as T4 preparation.
Assist with generating payroll and benefits reports as requested.
Learn and apply payroll and benefits compliance requirements across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Other Duties
Additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Skills
High school diploma required; post‑secondary coursework in a related field, such as payroll, accounting, or human resources, is an asset.
Interest in pursuing Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is an asset.
Up to 1 year of experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative roles (co‑op or internship experience counts).
Basic knowledge of payroll legislation is an asset but not required; training will be provided.
Comfortable with Microsoft Excel (formulas and basic data entry).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with employees, union representatives, and third‑party organizations.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
Physical Requirements
This is a fully onsite position at the Langley, BC office during regular business hours.
Primarily a desk role requiring prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
