Position Purpose and Summary
The Manager, Donor Recognition and Investments is responsible for the program management of the University’s named award program (scholarships and awards), the investment program, program endowments and donor recognition initiatives. The role oversees the development and administration of donor recognition vehicles, including gift agreements, customized stewardship reports, and endowment reporting. This role also oversees the management and administration of TWU’s investment program.

Areas of Accountability

Names Awards (Annual and Endowed) and Program Endowments

Provide ongoing written and verbal communications with donors regarding their existing awards to promote growth.

Collaborate with Advancement team on scholarship and award terms and criteria.

Draft Donor Application Form for creation of new awards.

Internal Award Management

Work with Financial Aid Office to ensure awards established, advertised, and awarded timely.

Work with Financial Services for accurate internal accounting and external reporting.

Provide internal endowment reporting data to Advancement leadership and officers.

Student Assistance Fund Program (SAF)

Ensure program operates within CRA guidelines.

Ensure student eligibility and award of SAF funding.

Maintain accurate accounting and promotion of the program.

Recognition Program

Manage thank‑you letters for endowed and annual award recipients.

Provide annual updated endowment reports for donors with program endowments.

Legacy Luncheon

Assist with student coordination and communication for the annual Legacy Luncheon.

Communicate with donors regarding their student recipients in attendance.

Investment Program

Investment program management (Promissory Note and RRSP/RIF)

Liaise with Olympia Trust for RRSP, RRIP accounts.

Provide external communication with investors for Promissory Note; internal communications with Financial Services.

Provide accurate internal accounting and external reporting to Promissory Note and RRSP investors.

Gift Agreement Management

Draft new gift agreements for capital, faculty, program naming, campus enhancement initiatives.

Ensure agreements align with institutional gift acceptance policies, naming standards, term durations.

Coordinate with assigned Advancement Team member on revisions and approvals.

Circulate finalized agreements for senior leadership approval and signature.

Maintain signed agreements within the database and e‑filing systems.

Custom Stewardship Reports

In collaboration with Advancement Services, manage timelines and tracking for custom stewardship reports for principal and major gift donors.

Draft bespoke stewardship reports tailored to each donor and gift.

The Person

Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising; able to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle.

General knowledge of tax laws that affect charitable gift, personal assets and estates.

Superb oral, written and interpersonal skills.

An exceptional team player, multi‑tasker, and able to take initiative.

Discerning, ethical, and wise; able to strategically navigate through challenging conversations.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle budget and schedule pressures.

Able to work independently.

Able to work under time, budget, and schedule pressures.
