As a Specialist – Technical Sales, with a focus on lighting and lighting controls, you will be a customer-facing technical expert supporting the commercial decision-making process, driving project-based sales, and growing specialized product categories. You’ll support both customers and internal sales teams through pre‑/post‑sales activities, product demonstrations, technical guidance, and solution recommendations. This regional specialist role includes branch visits and collaboration with vendors, purchasing, and outside sales to maximize customer success and business growth.
Responsibilities   Provide technical expertise for lighting and lighting control products, including demos, training, and pre-sale support.
Identify and close large projects; specify products to meet customer needs and prepare accurate quotations and proposals.
Support sales teams by providing product knowledge, application guidance, and first-line technical support.
Make customer and prospect calls; assist Sales Reps in identifying new opportunities.
Maintain relationships with vendors and customers, partner with purchasing on inventory and pricing.
Educate customers and staff on BC Hydro rebate programs where applicable.
Ensure product data (part numbers, costs, discounts) is accurate and current.
Use CRM, Excel, and PDFs to prepare and manage sales documentation.
Maintain high standards in customer service, professionalism, and accuracy in all transactions.
Coordinate manufacturer-led training for staff across the region.
Travel to regional branches as required.
Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications   High school diploma required;
Engineering or Business degree preferred.
Minimum 1 year electrical industry experience (manufacturer or distributor) preferred.
Minimum 3 years related sales experience.
Some lighting product knowledge is an asset; must be committed to ongoing learning.
Strong computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
Motivated, energetic team player with outstanding customer service and organizational skills.
Ability to build lasting customer relationships.
Willingness to travel and participate in training, events, and branch visits.
About Us  This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements. For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents.

For certain sales roles, EECOL also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
