XTL Transport has been a trusted employer for technicians and drivers for over 37 years. We’re searching for an experienced commercial trailer technician for our Surrey location.

Annual Tool and Boot allowance

A 4‑day workweek consisting of 10‑hour shifts, Thursday to Sunday, with a flexible start time of 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM

Skills and Qualifications

On the Road Trailer certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Red Seal Technician and/or CVIP certification for trailers is a definite asset

Experience with Reefers is a definite asset

Keep shop equipment functional by adhering to operating instructions

Manage inventory of stock

Duties and Responsibilities

Follow and maintain all safety measures according to company policy and procedures

Courteous interaction with fellow employees and supervisors

Performs job-related duties as assigned

Carefully listen to driver’s complaints, conduct inspections, diagnose issues, repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, replace parts and components, and repair body damage

Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing trailer electrical systems, landing gear assemblies and suspension/brakes. Work with a fleet of over 200 trailers (reefers / dry vans)

Conduct routine maintenance, diagnostic and repair work on the following:

Coupling and hitching systems

Tires, hubs, wheels and axles

Heating and refrigeration systems

Maintain current PM’s, CVIP’s and schedule future maintenance sessions

Keep logs on work and issues using computer software

Maintain company-owned equipment and keep tools in neat and proper condition

Assist in conducting pre and post vehicle inspections of equipment

Reporting any safety or repair issues to the shop supervisor
