This position offers a salary range of $26.71 - $28.91/hourly with the potential for advancement up to $42.13/hourly based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $28.91/hourly.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro Stop.

POSITION DUTIES

The Administrative Officer in the Single Family Home ownership program provides administrative support to the Director of Single Family and other staff within the Single Family team and works cooperatively with other administrators within CDA division. The position requires regular use of independent judgement and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies. The employee in this classification is assigned administrative responsibilities involving customer service, the analysis of operational programs (the Maryland Mortgage Program-MMP, for instance) or procedures with recommendations for improvements.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience:

    One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office software;
      Word, Excel and PowerPoint in a corporate setting.
    • Knowledge the Google mail platform in a corporate setting.
    • Corporate level knowledge of English writing, grammar and mathematics.
    • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in a corporate setting.
    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

    SELECTION PROCESS

    Successful candidates will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.

    Eligible list may be used to fill future vacancies of the same classification.

    Successful candidates must document eligibility to work in the U.S. upon hire.

    EXAMINATION PROCESS
