Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Analyst to join our team. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of flight hardware development, from initial concept through design maturation and final delivery. The role involves trade studies, defining load paths, and verifying that every component is sized correctly for strength, stiffness, and mass efficiency. You will work closely with our Mechanical Design Engineers and Structural Analysts in a unified framework to solve complex aerospace challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain Finite Element Models (FEM); verify accurate representation of physical behaviors, material properties, and boundary conditions.
- Perform classical hand calculations to assess load paths, implement trade studies, and provide early‑stage feedback.
- Execute part sizing for strength and stiffness; optimize materials, joints, and configurations through trade studies.
- Define external loads and internal load paths; document free‑body diagrams for the design team.
- Conduct mass and Mass Growth Allowance (MGA) analyses, accounting for non‑structural mass such as adhesives and coatings.
- Author comprehensive Structural Analysis Reports; calculate safety margins and perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments.
- Present analysis findings to stakeholders.
- Define testing scopes and activities needed to validate analytical assumptions and manufacturing methods.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- 0‑5 years’ professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Strong foundational knowledge of classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory.
- Experience following strict customer‑defined reporting structures and rigorous documentation standards.
- Ability to translate complex analytical results into actionable design recommendations for CAD engineers and stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (government contract requirement).
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard FEA tools (NASTRAN/PATRAN, FEMAP, ANSYS).
- Proficiency with engineering CAD software (Creo, Solid Works).
- Familiarity with industry analysis and testing standards such as GEVS 7000, NASA‑STD‑5001, and MMPDS.
