On-Site Scanner Maintenance Technician
This position requires an active IRS MBI clearance or the ability to obtain an IRS MBI clearance to be considered.
A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. Citizens. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen.
The On‑Site Scanner Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing daily maintenance of IBML Fusion 8400 scanners located at IRS service centers. This role ensures the scanners remain fully operational through preventative and remedial maintenance, documentation, and coordination with manufacturer’s technicians and IRS IT staff for firmware and system upgrades. The technician serves as the first point of contact for daily operational issues and communicates all maintenance activities to contractor management and the IRS Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) or on‑site IRS leadership.
Compensation& Benefits
Estimated Starting Salary Range for On‑Site Scanner Maintenance Technician: $33.65 to $40.86 per hour – pay commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities- Perform daily cleaning and inspection of IBML scanners, including removal of debris, cleaning rollers, sensors, belts, and optical components.
- Track, manage, and order consumables to ensure efficient use and prevent downtime.
- Schedule, coordinate, and oversee preventive and remedial maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and IRS requirements.
- Monitor scanner performance, escalates issues, and ensures timely vendor response for inoperative equipment.
- Support system and firmware updates by coordinating with IRS IT and scanner manufacturer, ensuring compliance with security and change procedures.
- Test and verify scanner functionality after upgrades or maintenance.
- Maintain accurate daily logs in SharePoint and provide weekly summaries for project reporting.
- Serve as on‑site point of contact for IRS staff, communicate operational status to contractor management, and support training/transition activities.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Experience in hardware maintenance or technical support is preferred; experience supporting high‑volume document scanners or imaging equipment is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with preventive and remedial maintenance practices for electromechanical systems.
- Experience with or ability to learn IT coordination, including firmware and patch installations.
- Strong organizational skills for scheduling and documentation.
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non‑technical personnel.
- Work must be performed onsite.
- Must pass pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
