Position OverviewCMI is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to lead, mentor, and support safety professionals working across multiple commercial construction projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
This is a hybrid, hands-on leadership role combining employee management, field safety, client support, and consulting. The successful candidate will be an experienced construction safety professional who can lead people, build strong client relationships, and step into the field when needed.
This position reports to CMI's corporate office in Lansdale, PA, as needed and requires significant travel throughout the region. When not at the corporate office or a project location, remote work is available based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, mentor, and support CMI safety professionals assigned to multiple construction projects.
- Visit project sites regularly to support employees, evaluate performance, and address client and safety needs.
- Coach and develop safety professionals while maintaining accountability and high standards of performance.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and developing field safety staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, construction managers, project owners, and business partners.
- Provide hands-on field safety support, consulting, and project coverage as needed.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, training, and incident investigations.
- Assist employees and clients with OSHA compliance and construction safety challenges.
- Help coordinate staffing and safety resources across multiple projects.
- Support client meetings, proposals, and business development opportunities when appropriate.
- Maintain approximately 30–50% billable project and consulting work, depending on business and client needs.
- 10+ years of construction safety experience.
- Experience mentoring, supervising, or managing safety professionals on construction projects.
- Experience supporting or overseeing safety across multiple construction sites or projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and construction safety practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach and develop employees while also holding them accountable.
- Ability to work effectively with field personnel, contractors, project leadership, clients, and business partners.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to perform both management and hands-on field safety responsibilities.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Experience supporting large or complex construction projects, particularly:
- Pharmaceutical / life sciences
- Data centers
- Large commercial construction
- Industrial construction
- Multi-employer construction environments
- Experience working with subcontractors, general contractors, construction managers, or project owners is highly valued.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Construction Management, or a related field
- CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
- OSHA 510 or OSHA 500
- Safety training, auditing, or consulting experience
A degree is not required. CMI values practical construction experience, leadership ability, communication skills, and demonstrated success developing safety professionals.
Hybrid Work & Travel- This is a hybrid position with significant regional travel to construction projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
- The Construction Safety Manager will report to CMI's Lansdale, PA corporate office as needed for meetings, training, planning, and employee development. When not at the corporate office or a client/project location, the position provides flexibility to work remotely based on business needs.
- Occasional overnight and out-of-region travel may be required.
