Title: Substitute Instructional Assistant (Non-Special Education)
Rate: $18.00/hr. (New Rate starting September 11, 2024.)
Summary: A Substitute Instructional Assistant assists the classroom teacher in providing extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. Responsibilities include supplementing the general education classroom curriculum and helping individual students.
Responsibilities- Support general education and/or ESL curricula, including reading and listening to students and reviewing their work.
- Assist the teacher with instructional activities, working with individual students or small groups on content and skills introduced by the teacher.
- Assist with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
- Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
- Help students prepare for and move to other classrooms, school activities, outside activities, and manage arrival and departure from school.
- Assist students with clothing, grooming, and bathroom activities as needed.
- Aid students with the use of specialized equipment as needed.
- Attend to students' physical, academic, and emotional needs.
- Communicate to the teacher any unusual situations or needs of students.
- Protect the confidentiality of records and information gained while performing the duties and use discretion within legal confines.
- Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Follow oral and written directions in English.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information.
