Title: Administrative Assistant, Special Education Supervisor
Reports To: Supervisor of Special Education
Takes Direction From: Supervisor of Special Education
Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hours/day 37.5 hours/week 261 days/year
Summary: Performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties for department using standard procedures and assists Special Education Supervisor with their duties. This person interacts with district staff, parents of special education students, and other agency staff. Also provides department coverage for other secretaries during breaks and absences.
Essential Functions- Uses a variety of computer software and maintain special education student records
- Maintains required federal and state paperwork for special education students
- Maintains timelines in compliance with state guidelines
- Provides information necessary to complete state and federal reports
- Distributes information and reports
- Maintains student confidentiality
- Processes purchase orders
- Maintains students records in accordance with FERPA requirements
- Arranges and coordinates meetings and appointments
- Responds to questions from staff and parents
- Completes all other duties required to operate the department
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
- High School Diploma/GED; additional secretarial training preferred
- 5-7 years with at least 2 years in education or related field
- Extensive knowledge and application of computer software such as Microsoft Office
- Good written and oral communication
- Ability to multitask

- Ability to work under timelines
- Familiarity with general office equipment including computers

The incumbent should be able to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Very heavy work
:
The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
