Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Principal Digital/Embedded Engineer are to architect, simulate, design, develop, support implementation, and integration of digital functions and sub-systems into CAES’ products. The candidate will perform requirements specification, digital design, simulation, design validation, system integration, and transition to production. The candidate should have successfully implemented designs in fielded systems and developed test and integration plans.
Responsibilities
Create digital concept and architecture from specificationsDesign digital hardware to interface with real-time and closed-loop Electronic Warfare subsystems to meet system requirementsCircuit card design including parts selection, schematic entry, and layout oversightWrite and simulate VHDL for FPGAsWrite and debug embedded C for micro-controllersTest and integrate circuit cards / sub-systems / systemsInterface with complex RF subsystems and/or motion controlled positioner assembliesBe responsible for complete board/module designs with respect to technical details, budget, and scheduleContribute to proposals for new business and provide labor estimatesAuthor related documentation such as version description documents, verification procedures, etc.Qualifications
MINIMUM:
Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field8+ years of work experience encompassing a broad range of technical, multi-disciplinary responsibilities8+ years of related experience working with an engineering team including multiple disciplines8+ years of experience in the design, test, and troubleshooting of digital and mixed signal circuits8+ years of experience with digital hardware, software, signal processing algorithms, and simulation tools5+ years of leading analysis, design, and implementation of complex electronic subsystems5+ years of formulating complex plans and communicating progress, results, and issues to colleagues, managers, and customers5+ years of experience using FPGA IDEs and simulation tools and/or micro-controller compilers and debuggersU.S. Citizenship required, must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified informationPREFERRED:
Masters of Science in an Engineering Field10-15 years of work experience in the design, test and troubleshooting of digital and mixed signal circuits10-15 years of experience with digital hardware, software, signal processing algorithms, and simulation toolsExperience implementing and using high data rate interfaces such as Gigabit EthernetExperience with signal processing / high data rate conversionExperience with electronic warfare subsystemsExperience with SoCs and/or RFSoCs such as Xilinx Zynq devicesActive Security ClearanceAbout CAES
