Systems Engineer, Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Electronics Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Job Description
The Aerospace EDS team designs and delivers high‑reliability RF and electromagnetic systems that protect aircraft, pilots, and critical missions across defense, space, and national security platforms
. We are seeking a Lead RF Systems Engineer to serve as a technical authority and systems leader for complex RF and Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions. This role is ideal for a senior RF engineer who has grown into systems‑level leadership and wants to own architecture, trade studies, and technical direction while remaining hands‑on in analysis, integration, and test. You will influence system architecture, roadmap direction, and R&D initiatives, working across multiple programs rather than being tied to a single platform.
- Own system‑level RF architectures for EW, radar, or high‑reliability RF systems including receivers, transmitters, antennas, and countermeasure solutions
- Lead requirements development and decomposition, translating mission needs into executable system designs
- Perform system trade studies balancing performance, cost, schedule, risk, and manufacturability
- Develop and review block diagrams, ICDs, and interface definitions across RF, digital, mechanical, power, and software elements
- Guide and review modeling, simulation, and performance analysis to predict compliance with requirements
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cross‑disciplinary engineering teams
- Support integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) in laboratory and field environments
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies and alternative solutions
- Contribute to customer‑funded projects, IRAD efforts, and technology roadmaps
- Communicate technical results to internal stakeholders and external customers
- Participate in occasional domestic travel for program reviews, industry days, and technical interchange meetings
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated experience leading RF system‑level design decisions for complex, high‑reliability systems
- Strong foundation in RF and microwave principles, including concepts such as dB, dBm, EIRP, G/T, noise figure, P1dB, and VSWR
- Experience creating or influencing system architectures, trade studies, and technical decisions
- Ability to operate as a hands‑on technical lead, balancing leadership with direct technical contribution
- Background in defense, aerospace, electronic warfare, radar, or comparable high‑reliability industries
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama
- Exposure to EW, radar warning, electronic attack, direction finding, or RF countermeasures
- Familiarity with model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches
- Laboratory experience using RF test equipment (e.g., network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes)
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, AWR, MATLAB, or Python
- Integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) experience for system compliance determination
- Wants to own system architecture and technical direction, not just individual components
- Enjoys leading cross‑disciplinary technical decisions
- Values hands‑on engineering alongside leadership and mentoring
- Is motivated by impact, mission relevance, and technical ownership
- Serve as a technical authority with real influence on system design and strategy
- Work across multiple long‑term defense programs rather than a single platform
- Shape future technologies through R&D and IRAD involvement
- Join a collaborative, mission‑driven engineering organization solving complex RF challenges
Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
