Overview

As a Principal Wireless/ RF Engineer specializing in Antenna Technology at Honeywell Aerospace (HONA), your expertise and contributions will have a direct impact on business and technology. Your primary role will be in inventing novel solutions and development of defense antenna products for advanced Electronic Warfare systems for land, sea and air applications. Additional activity will include supporting the broader aerospace business of HONA.

Your knowledge and experience of Electromagnetics, aperture design, simulation, development and test along with creative problem‑solving skills will enable HONA to develop cutting‑edge products to support the warfighter and needs of our customers.

Information on the Lansdale, PA site: a 75‑year history of antenna development, multiple test facilities including seven anechoic chambers, compact range, near‑field scanner, outdoor ranges, and high‑power test facilities.

You will report directly to the Antenna Engineering Manager, with access to senior leadership. The site focuses on 3 MHz to 110 GHz products ranging from narrow‑band patch antennas to 50:1 broadband low‑power and multi‑octave high‑power applications.

As a Principal level engineer, you will invent solutions and lead the design, development, and testing of sophisticated RF/Microwave Antennas and RF feeds for a wide variety of aerospace and defense applications.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Invent, design, and develop RF/Microwave antennas and/or array elements spanning 3 MHz to 110 GHz.
  • Use computer design tools such as HFSS, ADS, AWR, CST, GRASP, WIPL, and MATLAB.
  • Develop antennas of various types: microstrip patch, horn, spiral, dipole, blade, reflector, interferometers, AESA antenna elements, and fabricate them.
  • Prepare technical proposals, conduct product qualification, and support production.
  • Work individually or with a team of engineers and technicians to support varied antenna products and subsystems (CNI, munitions, missile, electronic warfare, situational awareness & self‑protection, etc.).
  • Lead design, analysis, and testing of RF/Microwave antennas, hybrids, feed structures, filters, and elements.
  • Document design elements, antenna test procedures, and support mechanical engineering for drafting and R&M engineering.
  • Lead setup and operational testing of engineering hardware in a laboratory environment.
  • Travel up to 10% for site support, customer meetings, and trade shows.
  • Prepare and present customer support meetings such as TIMs, PDRs, and CDRs.
  • Provide technical leadership in antenna capital needs and rationale for measurement and testing equipment.
Qualifications
  • BSEE – 15 years experience in RF/Microwave antenna design and 15 years experience with RF measurements (VSWR, insertion loss, phase, coupling, pattern, and gain).
  • MSEE – 12 years experience in RF/Microwave antenna design and 12 years of RF measurement experience.
  • 8 years of experience operating PCs using standard applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Access to technology, materials, software, or hardware controlled by U.S. export laws. Must be a U.S. Person or eligible under U.S. export licensing.
  • Minimum Secret security clearance required.

  • PhD – 10 years experience in RF/Microwave antenna design and 10 years of RF measurement experience.
  • Design and modeling of RF/Microwave antennas from 3 MHz to 110 GHz using HFSS, ADS, AWR, CST, GRASP, WIPL, and MATLAB.
  • Materials and bonding experience.
  • Knowledge of military documentation configuration and control.
  • RF system considerations such as path loss, cascade noise figure, and intercept point.
  • Strong analytical, test, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Multitasking and ability to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Leadership and communication skills for technical teams across mechanical, electrical, system, and R&M engineering.
  • Ability to generate white papers, technical proposals, basis‑of‑estimates, and bid & proposal solutions.
  • Excellent presentation skills for internal and customer meetings and reviews.

Salary range: $166,000 – $207,000.
