The Transmission Engineering Intern will join a dynamic electric powerline design team, applying relevant Civil and Electrical coursework and experience to the engineering and design of multiple power projects. Projects range from small, quick-turnaround assignments to large, complex transmission line designs for public and private electric utilities, wind and solar developers, and government agencies. This position offers a direct opportunity to apply engineering knowledge to real-world energy infrastructure projects.

Projects range from small, quick-turnaround assignments to large, complex transmission line designs for public and private electric utilities, wind and solar developers, and government agencies. This position offers a direct opportunity to apply engineering knowledge to real-world energy infrastructure projects.
RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities
- Work with engineers to obtain training and build foundational proficiency in the use of PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and other design software used by Transmission Engineers.
- Prepare and review design documents for construction, including plan and profiles, structure drawings, structure layout drawings, bills of materials, and foundation design drawings.
- Develop an understanding of client interests and help identify approaches to address client concerns in the performance of project work.
- Actively coordinate with internal and external team members across power projects to ensure effective communication and project progress.
- Travel to project sites as necessary to gather field data and interface directly with clients.
- Apply applicable engineering standards (ACI, IBC, NESC, ASCE, and others) under the guidance of licensed Senior Engineers.
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably in Civil, Electrical, and/or Structural Engineering.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and design team members.
- Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
- Willingness to attend site visits and perform work in outdoor field conditions on occasion.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The following qualifications are preferred but not required for consideration:
- Relevant industry experience through engineering coursework projects or prior internships in transmission, distribution, or civil/structural engineering.
- Experience with technical design software including AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, MFAD, MATLAB, or other relevant engineering tools.
