Pay Range- $30 - $35 per hour on W2 Position Summary
The Associate Scientist will support analytical activities within vaccine process development and GMP laboratories. This role involves hands‑on analytical testing of biological samples, chromatography-based separations, potency assays, and comprehensive electronic documentation. The position requires strong laboratory execution, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating cross‑functionally in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform analytical testing including chemical labeling of biological samples, HPLC/UPLC separations, and potency assays (e.g., ELISA)
- Prepare buffers and solutions, pack chromatography columns, set up analytical systems, and perform sterilization and sampling activities
- Execute and support chromatography techniques including IEX, SEC, HIC, and reversed‑phase chromatography
- Apply additional separation and biochemical analysis methods, including capillary electrophoresis and two‑dimensional separations
- Analyze experimental data and author internal technical reports
- Document all laboratory activities electronically and enter process data into designated databases
- Troubleshoot analytical instruments and perform minor equipment repairs as needed
- Maintain laboratory inventory, aliquot materials, and support general lab operations
- Ensure laboratory spaces remain clean, orderly, inspection‑ready, and compliant with safety and GMP standards
- Follow cGMP/cGLP practices and all company safety and quality policies
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field
- Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in the pharmaceutical or medical technology industry (pharma experience preferred)
- 1–2 years of wet laboratory experience
- Hands‑on experience with chromatography techniques
- Experience using Empower software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong computer, scientific, organizational, and documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated adaptability, self‑motivation, and positive attitude
- Experience analyzing therapeutic proteins using UPLC/HPLC techniques (IEX, SEC, HIC, RP)
- Prior experience working in cGMP or cGLP environments
- Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)
- Demonstrated ability to author internal technical reports
- Candidate must be able to work onsite at both the West Point, PA and North Wales, PA locations (approximately 1–2 miles apart)
