SummaryThe staff nurse is a skilled health care provider who administers first aid and other health services to students as needed. As a professionally trained person, the staff nurse is expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the health needs of all students.
Essential Functions- Provide first aid services to students and school personnel in accordance with district guidelines.
- Administer medications and treatments to students in accordance with the prescription of the student's physician and the direction of the North Penn School District medical director.
- Assist in the execution of the mandated program as directed by the certified school nurse.
- Contact parent/guardian regarding an injured or ill student.
- Keep records and other documents accurate and up-to-date.
- Confere with the school nurse at regular intervals and with the principal and school nurse coordinator as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and student records.
- Collaborate with the school nurse to identify community health resources and to assist students and/or parents/guardians with their use.
- Together with the school nurse, serve as a health consultant to school personnel.
- Assist in the assessment of the social, emotional and physical needs of the students and report these needs to the school nurse, parents and teachers.
- Follow North Penn School District policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in keeping the health suite clean and orderly.
- Restock health room supplies and maintain inventory.
Licensed professional nurse in Pennsylvania
Experience NeededMinimum 2 years’ nursing experience
Requisite Skills- Valid CPR and First Aid certificate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, phone etiquette and conflict resolution skills are required
- Multi‑task capabilities
- Able to work within timelines
- Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion

Physical RequirementsPhysical requirements vary from sedentary to very heavy work. Tasks may require exertion up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly, and may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects as needed. The incumbent should also be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly for light or sedentary work, and up to 20 lbs or 10 lbs for medium work as required.
