Manna on Main Street is a Lansdale-based nonprofit that fights hunger in the North Penn area. We provide immediate help through our food pantry and soup kitchen, while offering free food service job training through our Common Grounds Training Program to help adults who face barriers to employment build a better future. Common Grounds trainees help Manna's culinary team prepare meals and support the Common Grounds Café.

The Kitchen Production Assistant will assist Manna's culinary team in daily contract meal production, as well as support the food needs of the Soup Kitchen, café and catering programs. They will work closely with Common Grounds Training Program adult trainees, serving as a teacher and role model and helping to train them in basic food preparation skills.

• 3+ years cooking experience
• 1+ year training experience
• Current Serv Safe Manager certification
• Experience with large-scale food production
• Formal culinary training preferred

• Performs culinary production as directed by the Executive Chef
• Monitors food production and storage to minimize contamination
• Assists the Training and Employment Manager in the training and supervision of trainees
• Serve as back‑up driver for contract meal delivery

• Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems as part of a team and deal with a variety of variables
• Excellent culinary and cooking skills
• Experience instructing vulnerable learners in culinary and food production skills preferred
• Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and produce in a high‑paced, team‑oriented environment
• Compassionate and effective interpersonal skills
• Organized and detail oriented
• Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds repeatedly
• Must be able to work standing and moving for up to 8 hours a day with appropriate breaks
• Must have a driver's license and willingness to drive panel trucks and delivery vans with appropriate training
• Strong passion for and commitment to the mission of Manna on Main Street and service to the community

• Pay: $21 per hour
• Hours:
  
  30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am–2pm (occasionally late afternoon, evening or weekend hours)
