A Contract Security Officer operates as part of the security team overseeing and performing all industrial security requirements of the company’s classified and other sensitive federal government contracts, including requirements imposed by Cognizant Security Agencies (CSAs) and particular federal customers. This role also provides daily industrial security management and oversight across multiple programs in several areas, including personnel security, facility security, information security, and physical security.
The Contract Security Officer processes personnel security clearances (PCLs), conducts inspections of the company’s security program in line with federal regulation and customer requirements, coordinates closely with federal agency security officers, and executes tasks relevant to maintaining the company’s facility clearances (FCLs; entity eligibility determinations), among other industrial security and general business tasks.
- Process and manage individual security clearances (PCLs) in accordance with designated federal agencies’ requirements, from initial background investigation request to debriefing acknowledgement.
- Prepare and maintain security deliverables required by the company’s federal construction, manufacturing, and technology contracts.
- Receive, log, safeguard, and destroy classified information provided to the company.
- Conduct secure mailings and other transmissions of classified information to customers and subcontractors.
- Manage the company’s National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) closed areas, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), and other restricted areas in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Perform, log, and report audits and routine maintenance of the company’s accredited information systems (IS), as an authorized privileged user.
- Submit and manage visit authorizations for cleared employees travelling to customer or business partner sites (VARs, VALs, etc.).
- Maintain and improve the company’s internal industrial security processes and procedures, including standard practice procedures (SPPs).
- Conduct, and record results of, inspections of the company’s industrial security program and related items, including identification and execution of remedial actions, if any.
- Assist employees in preparing, revising, and submitting reports of security-relevant information (g., Security Executive Agent Directive (SEAD) 3 reporting).
- Prepare, conduct, and track industrial security training for cleared employees.
- Serve as a member of the company’s Insider Threat Program Working Group (ITPWG).
- Manage the company’s operational security (OPSEC) posture through coordination with stakeholders.
- Perform duties as assigned as an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) of the company.
- Execute other administrative business tasks in accordance with business needs.

Skills and Specifications- Working knowledge of the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), SEADs, Intelligence Community (IC) industrial security guidance, and FAR and DFARS clauses relevant to industrial security.
- Proficiency in using DISS, NISS, NCAISS, NBIS, eApp and other federal systems relevant to industrial security.
- Expertise in adequacy and completeness optimization of SF 86 submissions.
- Proficiency in handling, safeguarding, and destroying classified information.
- High level of organization and attention to detail, with a demonstrable ability to efficiently manage multiple security tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including SharePoint.
